Overview

The SRAM 12-Speed Flattop PowerLock Connector is the quick link that joins a SRAM 12-speed Flattop road chain (RED, Force, Rival, or Apex eTap AXS). It is stamped PLCK-D1, the mark SRAM uses for this chain family, and it is sold on its own as a spare. A PowerLock is single-use: you fit a fresh one each time you join the chain.

Why we love it

It's the finishing touch on a fresh chain. What's not to love?

  • 01It's stamped PLCK-D1, so it's easy to confirm it's the right match.
  • 02It closes by hand and locks with a firm pedal stroke. No special tool is needed to fit it.

What's included

  • One SRAM PowerLock connector (one quick link)

Not included: A chain or a chain tool. A PowerLock is single-use. Set it so the arrow on the outer plate points in the direction the chain travels, close it by hand, then lock it with a firm pedal stroke while you hold the rear brake, until it clicks. To open it later you need master-link pliers, and you join the chain with a fresh PowerLock each time.

Confirm before ordering

SRAM's three 12-speed chain families each use a different PowerLock, and they do not interchange. Check the stamp on the connector and on your chain: this one is PLCK-D1. If you are not sure which chain you have, ask your bike mechanic or Hammer & Howl before ordering.

This connector is stamped PLCK-D1. It is single-use, so keep a spare with any chain job.

Questions

Which chains does it fit?

A SRAM 12-speed Flattop road chain (RED, Force, Rival, or Apex eTap AXS). It is stamped PLCK-D1, the mark SRAM uses for this chain family.

Can I reuse it?

No. A SRAM PowerLock is single-use. Once it has been closed, fit a fresh one the next time you join the chain, and open the old one with master-link pliers. Reusing a connector risks a broken chain.

How do I install it?

Set the connector so the arrow on the outer plate points in the direction the chain travels. Bring the two chain ends together and close it by hand, then lock it with a firm pedal stroke while you hold the rear brake, until it clicks.

Can I use it on a different SRAM chain?

No. SRAM's road, Eagle, and Eagle Transmission chains each take a different PowerLock, and they do not interchange. This one is stamped PLCK-D1 for 12-speed Flattop road chains. For SRAM Eagle Transmission (T-Type) Flattop chains use the SRAM T-Type Eagle Flattop PowerLock Connector; for SRAM Eagle 12-speed roller chains (NX, GX, X01, or XX1 Eagle) use the SRAM Eagle PowerLock Connector. Match the stamp to your chain.
