Overview

The SRAM XX Eagle Transmission AXS Magic Pulley Kit is a set of Magic Wheel pulleys for a SRAM GX, X0, XX, or XX SL Eagle Transmission (T-Type) rear derailleur. It is the pulley set that XX derailleurs come with. That makes it an upgrade that adds the Magic Wheel to a GX or X0 derailleur.

Why we love it

We love that this kit adds SRAM's Magic Wheel to a GX or X0 Eagle Transmission derailleur.

  • 01The Magic Wheel lower pulley has an outer ring that spins independently of its hub, so if a stick lodges between the pulley and the cage the chain keeps threading through instead of jamming.
  • 02It fits the GX, X0, XX, and XX SL derailleurs, and on a GX or X0 it is a genuine upgrade.
Why it makes the cut. The Magic Wheel is cheap insurance against a jammed derailleur on rough ground.

Warranty

SRAM publishes its written warranty, including what it covers and what it excludes, at sram.com/en/service/warranty. We will send you a free copy of that warranty on request. Email support@hammerandhowl.com or call (206) 420-9548.

What's included

  • One 14T upper pulley and one 16T Magic Wheel lower pulley
  • Two aluminum pulley bolts

Not included: Tools. Replacing pulleys is a two-bolt job on the derailleur cage. Many home mechanics do it, and any bike shop can do it for you.

Will it fit your bike?

Compatible with

  • The SRAM GX, X0, XX, and XX SL Eagle Transmission (T-Type) 12-speed rear derailleurs (RD-GX-E-B1, RD-X0-E-B1, RD-XX-E-B1, RD-XX-SLE-B1)

Not compatible with

  • Hanger-mounted SRAM Eagle 12-speed derailleurs (NX, GX, X01, or XX1 Eagle), which are not Transmission
  • 10-speed, 11-speed, and non-SRAM derailleurs
  • The SRAM XX Downhill Transmission derailleur, which takes its own smaller pulleys

Confirm before ordering

These pulleys fit the SRAM GX, X0, XX, and XX SL Eagle Transmission (T-Type) rear derailleurs. You can ask your bike mechanic or Hammer & Howl before ordering.

SRAM fits the Magic Wheel to its XX and XX SL derailleurs. GX and X0 derailleurs come with plain pulleys, and this kit adds the Magic Wheel to them. It also fits an XX SL derailleur, which already has the Magic Wheel, so there it is a replacement rather than an upgrade, with a black lower pulley in place of the XX SL's silver one. For the plain set, see the SRAM GX and X0 Eagle Transmission AXS Pulley Kit.

Questions

What is the Magic Wheel?

It is SRAM's lower pulley whose outer ring spins independently of its hub. If a stick or debris lodges between the pulley and the cage, the outer ring keeps turning so the chain threads through instead of jamming. It is about protection on rough ground, not shifting speed.

Which derailleurs does it fit?

SRAM GX, X0, XX, and XX SL Eagle Transmission (T-Type) rear derailleurs. GX and X0 derailleurs come with plain pulleys, and this Magic Wheel kit adds the protection to them. It is also the set that XX derailleurs come with.

How is it different from the plain pulley kit?

This set has the Magic Wheel lower pulley and the SRAM GX and X0 Eagle Transmission AXS Pulley Kit has a plain one. Both use the same 14T upper and 16T lower tooth counts, and both fit the same derailleurs.

How do I fit them?

Each pulley is held by one bolt, so it is a two-bolt job on the derailleur cage. Many home mechanics do it, and any bike shop can do it for you.
