Overview

This is the Center Lock version of the Carbon-Ti X-Rotor Aero, a very light disc brake rotor built for speed, from 93g. Its carbon body is shaped in the wind tunnel to cut drag, and it keeps the same stainless steel braking track as the SteelCarbon 3 line. It is made in 140mm and 160mm. It comes with its own Al7075 Center Lock adapter, a laser-engraved titanium protection plate, and a low-profile lockring.

Why we love it

We love a Center Lock rotor built to cut drag when you are flat out.

  • 01The carbon body is shaped in the wind tunnel to slip through the air, and it keeps the same 1.8mm steel braking track as the SteelCarbon 3.
  • 02It comes with its own Al7075 Center Lock adapter, a laser-engraved titanium protection plate, and a low-profile lockring, so it is ready to mount.
  • 03It is light in its own right, and it trades some weight against the SteelCarbon 3 for that aerodynamic shape.
  • 04It shares the race pedigree of the SteelCarbon 3, developed with the UAE Team Emirates World Tour team and proven at the Giro d'Italia.
Why it makes the cut. Hammer & Howl only carries parts we believe are among the best in the business. It is a clean, fast upgrade for a Center Lock time trial or triathlon build.

What's included

  • One Carbon-Ti X-Rotor Aero Center Lock rotor
  • Its Al7075 Center Lock adapter and laser-engraved titanium protection plate
  • One low-profile Center Lock lockring

Not included: A lockring tool. Fitting a Center Lock lockring needs the matching lockring tool, which is a standard shop tool and is not in the box.

Will it fit your bike?

Compatible with

  • Hubs with the Center Lock disc mount, on road, time trial, and triathlon bikes
  • Center Lock hubs built for 12, 15, or 20mm thru-axles (the included low-profile lockring suits all three)
  • Rotor sizes 140mm and 160mm, so you can match the size your bike is built for

Not compatible with

Confirm before ordering

If you are not sure which disc mount or rotor size your bike needs, confirm with your bike mechanic or contact Hammer & Howl before ordering.

Two things decide fit: the mount and the size. Your hubs need the Center Lock disc mount, and the rotor size you select must match what your frame, fork, and brake calipers are built for.

Moving to a bigger or smaller rotor can need a different caliper mount adapter.

The low-profile lockring in the box suits hubs built for 12, 15, or 20mm thru-axles. A Center Lock lockring tool is needed to install it and is not included.

If your hubs use the 6-bolt disc mount instead, choose the Carbon-Ti X-Rotor Aero 6-Bolt.

Questions

What rotor size should I choose?

Match the size your frame, fork, and brake calipers are built for, usually 140mm or 160mm. Moving to a different size can need a different caliper mount adapter, so check your setup or ask your mechanic.

What comes with the Center Lock version?

The rotor arrives ready for a Center Lock hub. In the box are its own Center Lock adapter, a laser-engraved titanium protection plate, and a low-profile lockring that suits hubs built for 12, 15, or 20mm thru-axles. You install it with a Center Lock lockring tool, which is not included.

Will these fit my Center Lock hub?

Yes, if your hub uses the Center Lock disc mount. The included low-profile lockring secures the rotor and suits hubs built for 12, 15, or 20mm thru-axles; you fit it with a Center Lock lockring tool. If your hubs use the 6-bolt disc mount instead, choose the Carbon-Ti X-Rotor Aero 6-Bolt.

Is the Aero heavier than the SteelCarbon 3?

Yes. The aerodynamic carbon body adds some weight, which the Aero trades for lower drag at speed. Braking is the same, since the steel track is shared.

Are these UCI approved?

Yes, they comply with UCI regulations. The disc profile has rounded, CNC-machined edges.

Will these fit Campagnolo or Fulcrum wheels?

Yes, if they use the Center Lock mount. Campagnolo and Fulcrum wheels built for the AFS disc mount are the exception: those need a rotor made for AFS, and this one is not. For an AFS wheel, choose the Carbon-Ti X-Rotor Aero X-AFS. If you are not sure which disc mount your wheels use, check their specification before ordering.
