Waxing interval
About 350 to 400 miles in dry road conditions. Wet, muddy or gritty riding shortens it.
Application
Melt the wax to 200 degrees F (93 C) and agitate the chain in it for about 45 seconds. Hang it to cool, then flex the links free before fitting the chain.

Compatible with

  • Chains that have been stripped clean of factory grease or old lubricant

Not compatible with

  • Application on the bike. A submersion wax means the chain comes off each time.
  • Topping up a chain that carries a wet or drip lubricant

What matters is the chain's condition, not its brand. After the first strip, a training or everyday chain goes straight back in the pot with no degreasing in between. A chain kept for racing is cleaned again before each waxing.
