Overview

The Carbon-Ti X-Lock EVO 12x1.75 (118.5 mm) Front Thru-Axle is a bolt-on front thru-axle, machined from 7075-T6 aluminum alloy in Italy. It is made for forks built to the 12 mm road front standard.

It is 118.5 mm long, with an M12x1.75 thread and a 10 mm threaded section. It is tightened with a 6 mm hex key. It is color anodized, in the color you select.

Why we love it

We love seeing this level of machining on a part that usually gets no attention at all.

  • 01It is machined with a variable wall thickness, keeping weight down without giving up the stiffness your disc brake needs.
  • 02The flat head sits flush against the fork for a clean, finished look.
Why it makes the cut. Hammer & Howl only carries parts we believe are among the best in the business. This axle is a well-made finishing touch for a modern road front end.

Confirm before ordering

If you are not sure of your fork's axle length or thread pitch, measure the axle already in the bike.

You can also ask your bike mechanic, or contact Hammer & Howl before ordering.

Three things decide fit: the length, the thread pitch and the axle diameter. This axle is 118.5 mm long, M12x1.75, and 12 mm across, with a 10 mm threaded section.

Newer model years and other forks may also fit. Measure the axle your bike came with, or check your fork maker's axle specification.

Questions

How do I know this is the right axle for my bike?

Three measurements have to match: the total length (118.5 mm), the thread pitch (M12x1.75) and the axle diameter (12 mm). The easiest check is to measure the axle already in your bike.

What does the thread pitch mean?

M12x1.75 means a 12 mm axle with 1.75 mm between threads. An axle with a different pitch will not thread into your fork, even if the length is right.

What tool do I need?

A 6 mm hex key. It is a standard tool and is not in the box.

Does this go in the front or the rear?

The front. It is a front thru-axle, and a rear axle is a different length and often a different thread.

My bike is not on the list. Will it still fit?

It may. The list names the forks Hammer & Howl has confirmed. Newer model years and other forks built to the same axle specification also take it, so check your fork maker's axle specification or measure the axle you have.
