Overview

This Carbon-Ti X-Rotor SteelCarbon 3 is a very light disc brake rotor for road and gravel bikes, from 68g. It pairs a stainless steel braking track with a carbon fiber carrier, held together by titanium rivets. Machined in Italy, it is made for the 6-bolt disc mount in 140mm, 160mm, and 180mm.

Why we love it

We love that this rotor chases every gram without giving up real braking.

  • 01The steel braking track is 1.8mm thick with rounded, machined edges, so it stops well and sheds heat while staying light.
  • 02Grade 5 titanium rivets and washers hold the track to the carbon carrier, a detail you can see up close.
  • 03It was developed with the UAE Team Emirates World Tour team and race-tested at the Giro d'Italia, and that pedigree shows in every gram it saves.
Why it makes the cut. Hammer & Howl only carries parts we believe are among the best in the business. It is a genuine upgrade for a bike that has earned lightweight brakes.

What's included

  • One Carbon-Ti X-Rotor SteelCarbon 3 6-Bolt rotor

Not included: Rotor bolts. This 6-bolt rotor ships without mounting bolts. Most disc rotor bolts fit it, and the Carbon-Ti X-Rotor Titanium Bolt Kit is the matched titanium set for one wheel, sold separately.

Will it fit your bike?

Compatible with

  • Hubs with the 6-bolt disc mount, on road and gravel bikes
  • Rotor sizes 140mm, 160mm, and 180mm, so you can match the size your bike is built for

Confirm before ordering

If you are not sure which disc mount or rotor size your bike needs, confirm with your bike mechanic or contact Hammer & Howl before ordering.

Two things decide fit: the mount and the size. Your hubs need the 6-bolt disc mount, and the rotor size you select must match what your frame, fork, and brake calipers are built for.

Moving to a bigger or smaller rotor can need a different caliper mount adapter.

To fit this 6-bolt rotor to a Center Lock hub instead, add the Carbon-Ti X-Rotor Center Lock Adapter Kit, sold separately. If you are buying for a Center Lock hub, the Carbon-Ti X-Rotor SteelCarbon 3 Center Lock is the simpler choice.

Questions

What rotor size should I choose?

Match the size your frame, fork, and brake calipers are built for, usually 140mm, 160mm, or 180mm. Moving to a different size can need a different caliper mount adapter, so check your setup or ask your mechanic.

Do these come with mounting bolts?

No. This 6-bolt rotor ships without bolts. Most disc rotor bolts fit it, and the Carbon-Ti X-Rotor Titanium Bolt Kit is the matched titanium set for one wheel, sold separately.

Can I use these on a Center Lock hub?

Yes, with the Carbon-Ti X-Rotor Center Lock Adapter Kit, sold separately. It lets a 6-bolt rotor mount on a Center Lock hub, and its low-profile lockring suits hubs built for 12, 15, or 20mm thru-axles. If your hubs are already Center Lock, the Carbon-Ti X-Rotor SteelCarbon 3 Center Lock is the simpler choice.

Are these UCI approved?

Yes, they comply with UCI regulations. The disc profile has rounded, CNC-machined edges.

Will these fit Campagnolo or Fulcrum wheels?

Yes, if they use the standard 6-bolt mount. Campagnolo and Fulcrum wheels built for the AFS disc mount are the exception: those need a rotor made for AFS, and this one is not. For an AFS wheel, choose the Carbon-Ti X-Rotor SteelCarbon 3 X-AFS. If you are not sure which disc mount your wheels use, check their specification before ordering.
