Overview

The Carbon-Ti X-Lock EVO 12x1.5 X-E-Thru (166 mm) Rear Thru-Axle is a bolt-on rear thru-axle, machined from 7075-T6 aluminum alloy in Italy. It is made for frames built to the 12x142 Shimano E-Thru road standard.

It is 166 mm long, with an M12x1.5 thread and a 17 mm threaded section. It is tightened with a 6 mm hex key. It weighs 31 g. It is color anodized, in the color you select.

Questions

How do I know this is the right axle for my bike?

Three measurements have to match: the total length (166 mm), the thread pitch (M12x1.5) and the axle diameter (12 mm). The easiest check is to measure the axle already in your bike.

What does the thread pitch mean?

M12x1.5 means a 12 mm axle with 1.5 mm between threads. An axle with a different pitch will not thread into your frame, even if the length is right.

What tool do I need?

A 6 mm hex key. It is a standard tool and is not in the box.

Does this go in the front or the rear?

The rear. It is a rear thru-axle, and a front axle is a different length and often a different thread.

My bike is not on the list. Will it still fit?

It may. The list names the frames Hammer & Howl has confirmed. Newer model years and other frames built to the same axle specification also take it, so check your frame maker's axle specification or measure the axle you have.
